The New Colombo Plan (NCP) is a signature initiative of the Australian Government which aims to lift knowledge of the Indo-Pacific in Australia by supporting Australian undergraduate students to study and undertake internships in the region.

With the generous support of the NCP, UniSA has received grants to support FOUR students to undertake semester exchange in SP2 2025 to the following destination:

  • Two students to Japan
  • Two students to South Korea

Eligible students will receive a grant of A$7,000 to study at any of the partner institutions listed below. 

NCP Moblity Grant conditions:
  • Grants available are for AU$7,000
  • UniSA standard eligibility criteria apply (please see below)
  • Grants are non-transferable (if your exchange does not go ahead in SP2 2025, you'll need to apply again in future rounds, subject to availability)
  • If demand exceeds availability, grants will be awarded based on academic merit

Kwansei Gakuin University, Osaka

Nagoya University, Nagoya

Nagoya University was formally established in 1939 with the institution’s roots dating back to almost 150 years. Steeped in a rich history, Nagoya hosts Japan's revered Great Shrine of Atsuta, founded 1,900 years ago, housing the legendary Kusanagi Sword. It's also the birthplace of the first Shogun.

Nagoya's student exchange program (NUPACE) aims to forge friendships that extend beyond borders, internationalise through education, and motivate overseas students to pursue more extensive studies about Japan. The program offers a unique and flexible curriculum consisting of English and Japanese language instruction, Japan area/intercultural studies and a wide range of courses in the student’s major field of study.

Okayama University, Okayama

With roots dating back to 1870 by the family of Lord Ikeda who already founded the domain school for the samurai that continued for 200 years. Today, Okayama University is renowned as a top-class national research university. Okayama University has many cultural and athletic clubs and circles. To join one gives you a chance to get acquainted with Japanese students making your campus life more fruitful.

Okayama city is home to one of the top three traditional gardens in Japan as well as Okayama Castle which is ranked among the best 100 Japanese castles.

Rikkyo University, Tokyo

 Founded in 1874 as "St. Paul's School" by Bishop Channing Moore Williams, a missionary bishop of the American Episcopal Church, Rikkyo University is one of the oldest private universities in Japan.

The main campus is located in Ikebukuro, a well known hub for traditional and modern Japanese culture ranging from temples, shrines and Japanese gardens to theaters as well as otaku, including Otome Road ("Maiden Road" as the heart of manga and anime).

South Korea
Hanyang University, Seoul

Hanyang University established South Korea's first engineering institute in 1939 which became the founding facility of Hanyang University. It also established the first school of architecture and civil engineering in Korea.
